Real History of Characters in Kurulus Osman

The series Kuruluş Osman focuses on the founding period of the Ottoman Empire and the life of Osman Bey. However, the real historical counterparts of the characters in the series and the events they experienced show some differences when compared to historical sources. Osman Bey is known as the founder of the Ottoman State and lived between 1258 and 1326. We are going to share the real History of Characters in Kurulus Osman tv series.

Most of the characters in the series are based on historical figures related to Osman I, who is a pivotal figure in the establishment of the Ottoman Empire. Osman I, also known as Osman Gazi, was born around 1258 and died in 1323/4. He is recognized as the founder of the Ottoman Empire, which initially began as a small Turkoman principality during his reign. Under his leadership, this beylik evolved into a significant world empire in the centuries that followed his death.

Among the notable characters inspired by real historical figures is Malhun Hatun, who was one of Osman’s wives. Another key figure is Rabia Bala Hatun, who was also married to Osman I. She is often remembered for her influence and role in the early Ottoman court. Rabia Bala Hatun, whose name means “spring” and “young one” in Ottoman Turkish, passed away in January 1324.

Orhan, the son of Osman I, is another important character. He is noted for being one of the longest-living and longest-reigning sultans of the Ottoman Empire. In his later years, Orhan delegated much of the state’s power to his second son, Murad, and chose to live a more secluded life in Bursa, focusing on personal matters rather than the affairs of state.

Additionally, Sheikh Edebali, a prominent religious figure and mentor to Osman I, plays a significant role in the narrative. Other historical figures include Ertuğrul, Osman’s father, and Köse Mihal, a loyal commander. The series also incorporates fictional characters inspired by the Book of Dede Korkut, such as Selcan Hatun and Bamsı Beyrek, enriching the storyline with a blend of history and legend. Each season of the series introduces new characters, expanding the narrative and deepening the viewer’s engagement with the early days of the Ottoman Empire.
